Dr. Reza Mirshams Biography
Dr. Reza Mirshams has Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Industrial Metallurgy and Metallurgical Engineering and is a Licensed Professional Engineer with 40 years combined industrial and academic experience. Dr. Mirshams is a tenured full professor in engineering technology and has taught courses in the areas of mechanical metallurgy, manufacturing processes of materials, corrosion, galvanized steel, failure analysis of materials, fatigue, creep, engineering product design and development, materials selection in engineering design, and mechanical behavior and fracture mechanisms. His research interests include mechanical metallurgy, corrosion assessment and mitigation for construction industry and energy industry, heat treatments of steel, mechanical behavior of materials-microstructure relations, fracture mechanics, fatigue and creep of metals, nano and micro scales properties, and the study of advanced materials for structural applications in mechanical systems. His industrial experience includes serving as technical director in steel making and production of alloyed steel, sheet metal forming, and galvanizing steel sheets, process engineering design, failure analysis of structural parts in production line and caused by various loading types, fatigue and creep, stress corrosion cracking (SCC), and galvanic corrosion.
He has written 75 published articles and reports. he has given presentations at national and international conferences and submitted reports for government grants. Additionally, Dr Mirshams has testified and has been involved as an expert witness in several materials failure analysis and litigation cases due to flaws in design, materials, and manufacturing processes defects. He has been a member of editorial board of the journal of Metallurgical and Materials Transactions. He is a member of National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS), National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
Dr. Peyman Taheri Biography
Dr. Peyman Taheri has Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, and is a member of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He is an expert in standard testing, characterization, and advanced simulation of corrosion systems. Additionally, he has extensive experience in design, installation, and performance testing of cathodic protection systems for corrosion mitigatation at buried and submerged structures.
In addition to 30 publications in scientific journals, Dr. Taheri is the author of “Guide for Cathodic Protection of Transmission Line Structures”, a guideline for corrosion inspection and mitigation at new and aging galvanized structures. He is also experienced in analysis of field data, technical reporting, and risk assessment of underground and atmospheric corrosion at power and telecom utility infrastructures, with emphasise on risk analysis, root cause determination, and field surveys for AC interference and stray current detection and mitigation.
